Jon Hoffman, HIS
Jon, one of our first Hearing Care Professionals, has worked at the Hearing Aid Company of Texas since it opened in 1990. Jon is responsible for testing, consulting and providing patients with the best hearing instruments available in their budget. He has been trained to build, fit, and program hearing devices, but one of his greatest asset’s is his ability to repair hearing aids in our onsite lab.
Jon lives on the island with his wife Laurie, who is a Licensed Professional Counselor. In his free time, he likes to fish, watch football, and play with his dogs Newton, Fluffy and Scruggy as well as his cat Winston.
Chrissy York, HIS
Chrissy York is a Hearing Instrument Specialist licensed by the state of Texas. After earning a bachelors degree in Psychology from Schreiner University in 2011, she began her career in the hearing industry with her family at The Hearing Aid Company of Texas.
Chrissy has a passion for helping people hear and is proficient in programming the following manufactures’ instruments: Starkey, GNResound, Sonic Innovations, Widex, Unitron, Siemens, and Phonak. She is up to date on the newest hearing technology and strives to provide all her patients with the best products available in their budget. When she isn’t helping other hear better, she loves spending time with her husband Michael and their adorable son Levi.
Roger Salazar, HIS
Roger joined the Hearing Aid Company family in 2011. He is the Hearing Instrument Specialist and manager for the Beeville office. He graduated from Roy Miller High School and attended Del Mar College. Roger previously worked as an inventory control manager for over twelve years in the copier business. He currently resides in Beeville with his wife Rose of nineteen years. He has four children Anthony, Ora, Roger II and Samantha. His daughter Ora is a junior at the University of Texas and Roger II is a sophomore at Texas A&M- Corpus Christi. His oldest son Anthony works in the oilfield and his youngest daughter Samantha is a junior in high school. In addition, he has a grandson named Andrew and a granddaughter named Penelope. Roger is an avid Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan, and he enjoys playing all sports, especially golf
Laura Ramirez, HIS
Laura joined the company in 1997 and worked alongside Wayne Hoffman. In 1999, Laura received her Hearing Instrument Specialist (HIS) certification and within that same year, became the full time Hearing Care Professional for the Rio Grande Valley office; an amazing achievement. Since then, she has attended various training and continuing education courses across the country to further her education in the hearing industry. Over the years, she has helped many patients in their desire for better hearing and increased their overall quality of life. Laura is fluent in Spanish, a member of the Hearing Loss Association of America and active with her daughter’s memorial scholarship for children that suffer from depression.
Beth is the much loved Patient Care Manager at the Hearing Aid Company of Texas, serving patients for over ten years. Prior to working for the Hearing Aid Company of Texas, Beth worked in the insurance business for over 20 years. She now brings her expertise to our organization and manages our main office in Corpus Christi.
Beth resides in Aransas Pass, Texas with her husband Fred. The two are high school sweethearts, and have two daughters as well as three granddaughters. Beth enjoys spending most of her time with her husband and grandchildren and cooking delicious new meals for dinner.
Linda has been with Hearing Aid Company of Texas since 2014. She works in the Corpus Christi location and is the General Manager for all seven of our locations. Linda enjoys spending time with her 3 children and granddaughter. Her hobbies include playing online scrabble, crafting and refurbishing old furniture.
Patient Care Coordinator/Physician Liaison
Zurich, or “Z” as she is known around here, is the patient care coordinator in our Kingsville office, as well as the Physician Liaison for all of our locations. Originally from the Valley, Z joined our team in October of 2016 and we couldn’t be happier to have her as a part of the family. Z loves to travel back to the Valley often to visit family and friends. When she isn’t in the office, you can find Z spending time with her boyfriend Jose Adan and working out at the gym.
Lupita Hall is the patient care coordinator who works in our La Feria office. Lupita was with our team for about 11 years, and after taking some time off to enjoy her family she is back working alongside Laura providing excellent customer service. Lupita is also fully trained on in-house hearing aid repairs and will even clean your hearing aids while you enjoy a cup of coffee.
Lupita graduated from La Feria High School and has been married to her husband Robert for 25 years. Together they have 3 children and one beautiful granddaughter. When she isn’t working, Lupita loves fishing and spending time with her family. But, don’t expect her to cook anything she catches- she hates being in the kitchen so you may see her eating out around town or picking up food to-go!
Steve Hoffman, BC-HIS
Steve is Wayne’s oldest son and is the Hearing Instrument Specialist in our Portland and Houston locations. He worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) for 23 years in Galveston at St. Joseph’s before joining his parents and brother Jon at the Hearing Aid Company in 1992. Subsequently, he earned his BC-HIS (Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist) and is trained in all the newest technology available in digital hearing aids, as well as in house repairs.
Steve resides permanently in Houston with his wife Linda, traveling to the different locations throughout Texas weekly. He has one son, Matthew, who is an excellent chef in Austin, but his other “baby” is his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He travels to South Dakota yearly to enjoy the Sturgis motorcycle rally and ride through the Black Hills with Wayne and his brother Dave.
Tonya Janicek, HIS
Tonya joined the Hearing Aid Company team in 2008. She earned her BA from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and was the Marketing Manager for all of our locations. In 2013, Tonya completed her 160 clinic hours and became licensed as a Hearing Instrument Specialist. She is now a full-time hearing healthcare provider in the Calallen and Kingsville locations, providing testing and fitting of hearing instruments.
When she isn’t at work, Tonya likes to spend time with family and friends, go to the beach, watch HGTV and feed the ducks at the nearby pond.
Richard Schmeling, MS, CCC-A
Richard holds a Master of Science in Audiology from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and his specialty is working with pediatrics and VA patients. Richard currently works for Driscoll Chrildren’s Hospital, as well as the Hearing Aid Company of Texas Licensed Clinical Audiologist. He is available on an as needed basis for pediatrics audiology and hearing instrument fitting.
Monica A. Vargas
C-MA- Insurance Specialist
Monica is a Certified Medical Assistant. She joined The Hearing Aid Company of Texas September 2013. Prior to working with us she worked in the medical field since 1992, where she gained experience and knowledge in patient care, insurance, billing, appeals, referrals, and authorizations. She now brings her expertise to our organization as she oversees insurance inquiries and all that that entails for our surrounding locations. In addition, she has now been trained as a Hearing Instrument Technician, serving our patients by providing in house repairs and answering questions regarding hearing loss. She also brings with her over 20 years of safe and effective ear lavage experience, being an expert at helping to keep our patients’ ears clean! She is also fluent in Spanish.
Monica resides in Orange Grove, Texas with her husband Victor, who is a firefighter for the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. They have been married for over 10 years. She enjoys spending time with their four children and fellowshipping at their local church.
Kathy Rittman, HIS
Kathy works as the Hearing Instrument Specialist in our Portland office with Steve and Rita. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Houston. Kathy married her high school sweetheart, Chuck Rittiman, in 1971. When not at work, she is either fishing on the Nueces River with Chuck and her grandchildren or pampering her Dachshunds, Ruby and Callie.
Wayne Hoffman, HIS
After working 30 years for IBM, Wayne, along with his son Jon, opened the Hearing Aid Company of Texas in 1990. Under the name Hearing Aid Factory, they manufactured their own hearing aids in the office in the onsite lab. Business began growing so fast that in 1994, they changed to a full-service clinic and renamed the company the Hearing Aid Company of Texas.
Since then, the company has grown, adding hearing clinics in Portland, Beeville, Calallen, Kingsville, Houston and the Rio Grande Valley. What has not changed is the commitment to exceptional quality patient care and state of the art technology in hearing care products.
While retired, he is very involved in daily business operations and still finds time to stop by various locations. Wayne’s favorite past times include traveling, working out at the Corpus Christi Athletic Club, motorcycles and cars.
Patient Care Coordinator
Rita joined our team in 2017 after moving to Texas from California. She is the patient care coordinator for our Portland location and works with Steve and Kathy. Rita has 5 beautiful children and is an avid reader, as well as an excellent cook. Her favorite thing to make is Italian food. Feel free to ask for her favorite pasta recipe- you won’t be disappointed!
