Wayne Hoffman, HIS

Wayne Hoffman

After working 30 years for IBM, Wayne, along with his son Jon, opened the Hearing Aid Company of Texas in 1990. Under the name Hearing Aid Factory, they manufactured their own hearing aids in the office in the on site lab. Business began growing so fast that in 1994, they changed to a full service clinic and renamed the company the Hearing Aid Company of Texas.

Since then, the company has grown, adding hearing clinics in La Feria, Calallen, Alice Beeville, and Houston. What has not changed is the commitment to exceptional quality patient care and state of the art technology in hearing care products.

Today, Wayne oversees the marketing of the company as well as the overall organization. While retired, he is very involved in daily business operations and still finds time to work with patients, testing in the Calallen and Alice locations.

Wayne's favorite past times include working out at the Corpus Christi Athletic Club, motorcycles and cars.


Margaret Hoffman

Margaret Hoffman

Margaret, Wayne's wife, taught school in Minnesota before she and Wayne moved to Texas and opened the Hearing Aid Company of Texas. She was the original operations manager of the Hearing Aid Company and for many years single-handedly ran the office, implementing many policies that are still in place today.

Now retired, she has 13 grandchildren that she enjoys spending time with. She and Wayne are members of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church where they volunteer on a regular basis. When they are not traveling or playing with her dog Buddy, Margaret still works in the office doing accounting.


Jon Hoffman, HIS

Jon Hoffman

Jon, one of our first Hearing Care Professionals, has worked at the Hearing Aid Company of Texas since it opened in 1990. Jon is responsible for testing, consulting and providing patients with the best hearing instruments available in their budget. He has been trained to build, fit, and program hearing devices, but one of his greatest asset's is his ability to repair hearing aids in our onsite lab.

Jon lives on the island with his wife Laurie, who is a Licensed Professional Counselor. In his free time he likes to fish, watch football, and play with his dog Newton and his cat Winston.


Beth Austin, Office Manager

Beth Austin

Beth is the much loved Patient Care Manager at the Hearing Aid Company of Texas, serving patients for over ten years. Prior to working for the Hearing Aid Company of Texas, Beth worked in the insurance business for over 20 years. She now brings her expertise to our organization as she oversees all insurance inquiries and billing for our patients, as well as manages our main office in Corpus Christi.

Beth resides in Aransas Pass, Texas with her husband Fred. The two are high school sweethearts, and have two daughters as well as two granddaughters. Beth enjoys spending most of her time with her husband and grandchildren, cooking delicious new meals for dinner, and enjoying all different kinds of chocolate.


Steve Hoffman, BC-HIS

Steve Hoffman

Steve is Wayne's oldest son and the manager of the Calallen, Beeville, Houston, and Alice locations. He worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) for 23 years in Galveston, at St. Joseph's before joining his parents and brother Jon at the Hearing Aid Company in 1992. Subsequently he earned his BC-HIS (Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist) and is trained in all the newest technology available in digital hearing aids, as well as in house repairs.

Steve resides permanently in Houston with his wife Linda, traveling to the different locations throughout Texas weekly. He has one son, Matthew, who is studying culinary arts in Austin, but his other "baby" is his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He, along with Wayne, Margaret, and Carla travel to South Dakota yearly to enjoy the Sturgis motorcycle rally and ride through the Black Hills.


Laura Ramirez, HIS

Laura Ramirez

Laura joined the company in 1997 and worked alongside Wayne Hoffman. In 1999, Laura received her Hearing Instrument Specialist (HIS) certification and within that same year, became the full time Hearing Care Professional for the Rio Grande Valley office; an amazing achievement. Since then, she has attended various training and continuing education courses across the country to further her education in the hearing industry. Over the years, she has helped many patients in their desire for better hearing and increased their overall quality of life. Laura is fluent in Spanish, a member of the Hearing Loss Association of America and active with her daughter’s memorial scholarship for children that suffer from depression.


Carla Hoffman

Carla Hoffman

Carla joined the Hearing Aid Company of Texas in 1999. She earned her BA from the College of Saint Benedict in Minnesota and has earned credits toward her MBA at Texas A&M. She obtained her Certification in the Fitting and Dispensing of Hearing Instruments in 2000 and her Board Certification in 2003. Since joining the Hearing Aid Company of Texas team, she has become an expert programmer of digital hearing instruments.

In 2007, she was elected to the Texas Hearing Aid Association by her peers and served on the Executive Board as Secretary. In 2010, Governor Rick Perry appointed her to serve a six year term on the State Licensing Committee, a distinguished honor in her field.

In addition to serving the public of Texas, she serves on the Board for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing as past chair, ensuring the deaf and hard of hearing of South Texas have a voice. Her passion is educating our community about hearing loss and finding solutions to communication gaps.

She completes many hours of training each year and is trained on the following manufacturer's digital hearing instruments: Phonak, GN ReSound, Starkey, Oticon, Widex, Siemens, Unitron, Rexton, Vivatone, and MicoTech.

Carla is married to Wayne and Margaret's youngest son, Dan. Carla and Dan have three daughters; identical twin girls in Junior High and another daughter in elementary school. While her favorite past-time is spending time with her family, she also loves the outdoors and enjoys fishing, hunting, golfing, and cooking.


Tonya Janicek, Marketing Manager

Tonya Janicek

Tonya joined of the Hearing Aid Company team in 2008. She earned her BA from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi and is the Marketing Manager for all six locations. Tonya loves the hearing industry and spends her time organizing open houses, coordinating special events, updating social media accounts, contacting patients, repairing and cleaning hearing aids.

When she isn't at work, Tonya likes to spend time with family, friends, going to the beach, watch HGTV and feed the ducks at the nearby pond.


Kathy Rittman, Community Outreach Coordinator

Kathy joined The Hearing Aid Company of Texas in December 2009. She retired from the educational field after a twenty-eight year career and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Houston in Speech Pathology and Audiology and an advanced degree in school administration from CCSU, which is now Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Kathy currently works in the Calallen and Beeville locations alongside Steve as the office manager and Hearing Instrument Technician. She lives north of Sinton with her husband Chuck of forty years. When they are not spending time with their three children and seven grandchildren they are caring for their four dogs, ten cats, and over fifteen goats!


Rosa Flores, Hearing Instrument Technician

Rosa joined the Hearing Aid Company team in January 2011, where she works alongside her sister Laura Ramirez in the Rio Grande Valley office. She brings with her over twenty-eight years of experience in management and customer service. After joining the company, she has attended special training to become a Hearing Instrument Technician. Today, Rosa completes in-house repairs, cleanings, scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries. Rosa is a wonderful Patient Care Coordinator and her years of experience ensure you will receive the best patient care service! Rosa married her high school sweetheart thirty-six years ago and together, they now have their hands full raising their two adoptive grandsons. She is an avid sewer since childhood and enjoys making special occasion dresses, costumes and linens for loved ones.


Loren Pineda, Patient Care Coordinator

Loren Pineda

Loren joined the Corpus office in 2011. While working towards her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Loren works part time at the Hearing Aid Company maintaining inventory and stock items, as well as working alongside Tonya on marketing projects. When she is not at work- or studying- Loren likes to be outdoors, fish, spend time with friends and family, and volunteer for local charities such as Habitat for Humanity.


Roger Salazar, HIS

Roger Salazar

Roger is the manager of the Beeville office and works every Monday in Alice. Roger joined Hearing Aid Company in 2011 and he is currently training to become a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist. He graduated from Roy Miller High School and attended Del Mar College. Roger previously worked as an inventory control manager for over twelve years in the copier business. He currently resides in Beeville with his wife of seventeen years and their four children. Roger is an avid Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan, and he enjoys playing all sports, especially golf.


Richard Schmeling, MS, CCC-A, Clinical Audiologist

Richard Schmeling

Richard holds a Master of Science in Audiology from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and his specialty is working with pediatrics and VA patients. Richard currently works for Corpus Christi Independent School District as the school district's Educational Audiologist, as well as the Hearing Aid Company of Texas Licensed Clinical Audiologist. He is available on an as needed basis for pediatrics audiology and hearing instrument fitting.
